Space Availability - Main Library - Building 14

Study Carrels and Tables are provided for the use of UDST students only to engage in quiet study activities.  Please respect our guidelines:

  1. Bookings: Carrels and tables are booked online and on a "first come, first serve" basis.

  2. Cancellations if late:  If you are 10 minutes late, your booking will be cancelled, and the room made available to others.

  3. Maximum times:  Study carells and tables can be booked for a maximum of 2 hours per day. 

  4. One booth/room maximum: Only one study carrel can be booked during a specified time period. Overlapping bookings may be cancelled by library staff.

  5. Maximum students: Student carrels are reserved for individual study only. 

  6. Students only: Study carrels are intended for student use only and cannot be booked for instruction purposes. 

  7. ID card required:  All users must provide their student ID cards to library staff in order to sign in.

  8. Packing Up: Please start packing up your belongings at least 5 minutes before the end of your booking to ensure a smooth transition for the next student(s). 

  9. Cleaning: Carrels may not be cleaned in between each use. For your safety, please wipe down all surfaces with a disinfectant and wash/sanitize your hands before and after using the study carrels. 

  10. Type of use:  Study carrels are for studying. Socializing at the study carrels is not permitted.

  11. Food and drink:  Food is not permitted. ONLY covered water is allowed. If you break this rule, the library staff will ask you to leave.

  12. Noise:  All users must maintain an appropriate noise level.  If you disturb the silence and quiet studying in the library, you will be asked to leave.

  13. Condition after use:  Carrels must be left in a clean condition.

  14. Abandonment of belongings:  Items left in the study carrel (after your booking time expires) will be removed by security or library staff.

  15. Respect: All users must respect the culture and traditions of Qatar and behave accordingly.

  16. Abusive Behaviour: Verbal abuse of staff or security will not be tolerated. Abusive behaviour will result in removal from the study booth and a cancellation of the booking. 

  17. Code of Conduct: Users must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.

Library staff may (temporarily or permanently) suspend study carrels use privileges for students who do not follow the above rules.
